Privacy Policy
This policy explains how GridLogic Analytics processes information submitted through its website and residential utility-bill calculator. GridLogic is designed to minimize the personal information needed for an analysis.
Effective and last updated: July 31, 2026
Privacy at a glance
- Hourly electricity and solar-production files are processed locally in your browser for the utility-bill calculation.
- Do not include your name, utility account number, telephone number, email address, or other unnecessary personal information in uploaded files or column headings.
- For a Considering solar analysis, the required address is processed temporarily to obtain coordinates and roof characteristics; GridLogic and Netlify do not store the street address.
- GridLogic does not sell personal information or use a submitted property address for marketing.
Hourly electricity and solar-production files
Uploaded hourly values are read and calculated locally in your browser. The hourly file contents are not transmitted to GridLogic, Netlify, Google, NLR, or OpenAI as part of the standard utility-bill calculation.
If you choose AI-assisted column detection, only the file's column headings may be transmitted to identify likely date, time, usage, production, or export columns. The hourly data rows are not included in that request.
Address processing
If you select Considering solar, the address you enter is required to create the rooftop-production estimate. When you click Continue to Hourly Data, it is processed temporarily through a GridLogic server-side function hosted by Netlify, our website hosting and server-function provider. The address is then sent to Google Geocoding to obtain geographic coordinates. An address remains optional for an Existing solar analysis.
The resulting coordinates—not the street address—are then sent to Google Solar Building Insights to estimate available roof characteristics and to the National Laboratory of the Rockies PVWatts API to model solar production.
The current GridLogic implementation does not submit the address through Netlify Forms, write it to a GridLogic or Netlify database, place it in Netlify Blobs, save it in persistent browser storage, or log it from the processing function. Netlify may retain ordinary traffic metadata, such as IP address, request time, request method, country, and response status, but its traffic logs do not contain the address submitted in the request body.
The address remains visible in your browser while you use the calculator. If you select “Include address in downloaded report,” it is included in the PDF generated on your device. GridLogic does not receive or retain a copy of that downloaded report through this process.
Optional AI-assisted summary
If you request the optional AI summary after completing a calculation, GridLogic transmits a compact set of calculated results and modeling assumptions to OpenAI to generate a plain-language explanation. The hourly files and property address are not included in that request.
The deterministic utility-bill calculation does not depend on the AI summary. You may use the calculator and download its reports without requesting an AI explanation.
Reports and information you choose to provide
The detailed report is generated in your browser and downloaded to your device. You control whether the property address is included. You are responsible for protecting, sharing, retaining, or deleting downloaded reports and source files on your own device.
If you contact GridLogic by email or request a review, GridLogic may retain the information you voluntarily provide for correspondence, service delivery, recordkeeping, and legal or business purposes. Do not send utility account credentials, passwords, Social Security numbers, payment-card information, or other sensitive personal information by email.
Service providers and their policies
GridLogic uses service providers only as needed to host the website, process optional features, and produce requested results. Those providers process requests under their own terms and privacy practices:
- Netlify Privacy Statement — website hosting and server-function provider
- Google Privacy Policy and Google Maps Platform Terms
- National Laboratory of the Rockies Privacy and Security Notices
- OpenAI U.S. Privacy Policy
Google and NLR may maintain technical records of API requests under their respective policies. GridLogic does not control third-party retention practices.
Security and retention
GridLogic uses server-side API credentials and reasonable technical measures intended to limit unauthorized access. No internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
GridLogic does not retain the address or hourly file contents through the automated calculator workflow described above. Operational and security metadata maintained by hosting or API providers is subject to their retention practices. Correspondence and information submitted outside the calculator may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was provided, applicable recordkeeping, dispute resolution, security, or legal obligations.
Your choices
- For an Existing solar analysis, upload existing production data without entering a property address.
- Exclude the property address from the downloaded report.
- Use manual column selection instead of AI-assisted column detection.
- Skip the optional AI-generated summary.
- Remove unnecessary personal information from files before uploading them.
Children, changes, and contact
The website and calculator are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. GridLogic may update this policy as its services, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
